REALITY DISTORTION

Hi there, stranger.

So. I just finished watching the season finale of American Idol and I have to say, I’m only a bit disappointed.

Just so you know, I’m not a huge fan of the show and I only started tuning in when there were only seven of them left, so I had no idea who the fat Chinese guy was until he kept showing repeatedly on stage.

Here are my thoughts:

First of all, Jessica Sanchez had a huge chance of winning. But she really failed everyone when she sang that stupid pop ballad in the showdown on the third round before the finale. God knows if she merely wrote that song while she was shitting on the toilet for ten minutes and called it a day. Edit: I just recently found out that Jimmy was the one who wrote the song. SHAME ON U JIMMY. SHAAAAME.

On the other hand, Philip Philips did an amazing job with his single. It was a good song, it was dreamy, and it wasn’t your typical American Idol kind of performance. BUT it sounded too similar to Mumford and Sons. Props to Randy Jackson for recognizing that, and fuck you, Jennifer Lopez, for being such a dumbass.

I didn’t pay much to the actual season finale, and I merely waited for the results. The only thing really worth watching was (this is probably everyone’s favorite part) Jennifer Holliday and Jessica Sanchez!!! It was a real fucking treat to watch that. I had goosebumps all over for the wrong and right reasons. I decided that next week I’m going to print a t-shirt with Jennifer Holliday’s face on it.

In the end, I wasn’t surprised when Ryan Gaycrest announced that Jessica lost because it was all obvious from the beginning: Philip Philips was going to win for his looks. Teenage girls dominated the voting power of America. Raging hormones prevail versus the passion for seeing true talent.
